Pivot Charter School recently partnered with Hillsborough County Fire Rescue (HCFR) to provide students with a hands-on Stop the Bleed training seminar focused on emergency preparedness and life-saving skills. This interactive safety event gave Pivot Charter School students practical experience in responding to severe bleeding emergencies.
The Stop the Bleed program is a nationally recognized public health initiative designed to teach individuals how to control life-threatening bleeding before first responders arrive. During the training at Pivot Charter School, HCFR professionals demonstrated critical emergency response techniques, including:
Identifying life-threatening bleeding
Applying direct pressure
Packing a wound properly
Using a tourniquet correctly
What made this Stop the Bleed training at Pivot Charter School especially impactful was the hands-on component. Students practiced real-world emergency response techniques using training materials under the supervision of Hillsborough County Fire Rescue personnel. This experiential learning approach strengthened both skill development and student confidence.
