The Pivot eSports League is an official school sport sponsored by the North American Scholastic eSports Federation (NASEF). Students attend weekly practices (either at the school or at home) to learn teamwork and to progress their skills in competitive eSports. Competitions are against other League registered high schools throughout the nation. These competitions produce nationally accredited ranks for League players. Top players can earn scholarships for college.
The three eSports offered during the Fall season are Rocket League (Coach Moody), Overwatch (Coach Ellis), and Fortnite (Coach Dennis).
The idea of the League is to have an extracurricular activity that is safe during the pandemic and fun. It gives League members a chance to socialize outside of a school setting and learn valuable teamwork, time management, and skill acquisitions that can be employable in future endeavors in education and careers, and gaming, of course. And the obvious, it is something fun to do during stressful times with friends, classmates, and some of your teachers outside a classroom setting.
National Honor Society
Sponsors: Mr. Schindler, Ms. Moody
The Pivot Chapter of the National Honor Society is made up of a group of student leaders who do good service for the school and the surrounding community. Each fall, 10th, 11th, and 12th graders are invited to apply to NHS if they have a cumulative GPA of a 3.0 or higher. After students submit their applications, the NHS Advisory Group comes together to select students based on their leadership, service, and character. The Chapter meets monthly to plan various events both on and off-campus. Past NHS sponsored events have included: Community Car Wash, local pet shelter aid, bake sales, and Lock-In activities. If you are a 10th, 11, or 12th grader with a GPA of a 3.0 or higher you will be receiving a letter inviting you to apply to our chapter sometime in early October. If you have any questions about our chapter please reach out to either Mr. Schindler or Ms. Moody.
